Thanksgiving, the day before Black Friday, <strong>Black Friday Eve<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>The most recent sales figures seem to emphasize this thought: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Online spending was up 29% ($272 million) Thanksgiving Day and up 22% ($531 million) on Black Friday<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.comscore.com\/press\/release.asp?press=1914\">comScore <\/a>expects Cyber Monday sales be even stronger than Black Friday\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and to exceed $700 million<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shoppertrak.com\/news_retail_sales_112407.php\">ShopperTrak RCT Corp.,<\/a> stated total sales rose 8.3% to about $10.3 billion on Friday<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Headlines in the media are all about Black Friday:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Midnight shopping lures Black Friday hordes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2007\/LIVING\/11\/22\/hs.midnight.shopping.ap\/\">CNN<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Stores Lure Shoppers Before Black Friday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/feeds\/ap\/2007\/11\/23\/ap4367582.html\">Forbes<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Black Friday carries retailers&#8217; hopes for profitable holidays <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2007\/11\/23\/BU4TTGQ50.DTL&#038;tsp=1\">San Fransisco Chronicle<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What happened to the experience of gathering together on Thanksgiving, eating turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie, watching football and giving thanks for what is truly meaningful? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanksgiving has come and gone and I wonder if anyone really noticed?
